WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao collected XCG 1.047 billion in taxes through the second quarter of 2026, exceeding the government’s budget projection for the period by XCG 84 million.
The figures were highlighted by the Board of Financial Supervision (Cft) in its latest assessment of Curaçao’s public finances.
According to the Cft, the stronger performance was driven particularly by profit tax, turnover tax and property tax, all of which generated more revenue than anticipated.
Waste tax revenues and beer excise duties, however, remained somewhat below budget.
Overall government revenue reached XCG 1.142 billion through the second quarter, compared with XCG 1.036 billion during the corresponding period in 2025 and XCG 998 million in 2024.
Tax revenue increased from XCG 914 million in the first half of 2024 to XCG 952 million in 2025 and XCG 1.047 billion this year.
The stronger tax collections contributed substantially to Curaçao’s preliminary XCG 189 million surplus on the ordinary budget.
However, the Cft wants the government to formally update its 2026 budget to reflect the higher collections. The current approved budget still projects XCG 1.851 billion in tax revenue for the entire year.
The financial supervisor said actual developments now provide additional reason for the government to submit a formal budget amendment covering both higher revenues and spending overruns.
