Local, Caribbean, | By Correspondent April 24, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Sustainability Map has been nominated for the 2026 Sustainable Tourism Awards by the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO), placing the local initiative among leading projects in the region promoting sustainable tourism development.

The awards will be presented during the Caribbean Conference on Sustainable Tourism Development (STC 2026), scheduled to take place from April 27 to 30 in Belize. The event will bring together regional and international stakeholders from across the tourism sector to discuss sustainability and innovation.

The Sustainability Map was created to make environmentally friendly initiatives on Curaçao more visible and accessible to both residents and visitors. The platform currently features more than 180 locations across the island, including sites for recycling, water refill stations and natural areas open to the public.

According to the initiative’s organizers, the nomination reflects the collaborative effort between local organizations, businesses and community groups working toward a more sustainable tourism model.

The winners of the Sustainable Tourism Awards 2026 are expected to be announced at the end of April during the conference in Belize.
