Curaçao sees surge in Dutch holiday bookings for May vacation period

WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao is becoming increasingly popular among Dutch holidaymakers this spring, with new figures from Dutch travel company Corendon Dutch Airlines showing a sharp rise in bookings to the island for the May holiday season.

According to Corendon, bookings to Curaçao are up by more than 20 percent compared to the same period last year, confirming the island’s growing appeal as a spring sun destination for travelers from the Netherlands.

The travel company says demand for Curaçao started earlier than usual this year, with many travelers booking months in advance to secure warm weather, beaches and sunshine during the Dutch May holiday break.

As a result, a large portion of available travel packages to the island had already been filled by March.

The increase reflects a broader trend among Dutch travelers who are increasingly choosing destinations with guaranteed sunshine during the spring season.

While traditional spring destinations such as Turkey and Egypt often see bookings peak later, Curaçao continues to emerge as an early favorite.

Corendon says Curaçao’s appeal goes beyond its tropical climate.

The island’s relatively competitive pricing, wide variety of accommodations and range of activities make it an attractive option for families, couples and solo travelers looking for a longer-haul holiday.

Tourism officials have long pointed to Curaçao’s ability to combine beach tourism with culture, diving, gastronomy and historical attractions as one of its biggest advantages in the competitive Caribbean market.

The continued growth in Dutch visitor numbers is significant for Curaçao’s tourism sector, which remains one of the island’s main economic pillars.

The Netherlands remains one of Curaçao’s most important source markets, alongside the United States and regional Caribbean travel.

The new figures also reinforce earlier tourism trends showing sustained demand for the island, even as global travel costs remain elevated.

Industry analysts say Curaçao’s strong air connectivity with the Netherlands and its reputation as a safe, accessible and sunny destination continue to strengthen its position in the Dutch market.

With the May holiday season now underway, local hotels, restaurants, tour operators and retailers are expected to benefit from the increased influx of visitors.

The strong booking figures further cement Curaçao’s growing reputation as one of the preferred long-haul spring holiday destinations for Dutch travelers seeking sun, sea and relaxation.
