WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao has officially reactivated its Tripartite Dialogue, restoring a structured platform where the government, employers and trade unions can jointly discuss socioeconomic issues and developments in the labor market.
The dialogue was formally restarted on Friday, August 21, after an extended period without active meetings.
The platform is intended to provide the three parties with a permanent forum for consultation, allowing them to exchange positions, discuss policy and work toward joint solutions to challenges affecting Curaçao’s socioeconomic development and labor market.
The structure of the dialogue is aligned with the principles of International Labour Organization (ILO) Convention 144 on tripartite consultation.
The Curaçao government is represented by Minister of Social Development, Labor and Welfare (SOAW) Charetti America. Employers are represented by the Curaçao Business Association (VBC), while the trade union movement is represented by the federations SSS, SGTC and SSK.
Suparmy Goeloe, founder of Artikulá, has been officially appointed facilitator of the Tripartite Dialogue. In that role, Goeloe will guide the discussions and support cooperation between the government, employers and workers’ representatives.
The reactivation gives Curaçao a formal mechanism through which the three sides can discuss potentially sensitive labor and economic issues before positions become entrenched or disputes escalate.
It also follows earlier efforts by America to restore the tripartite consultation structure. The minister has emphasized the importance of dialogue between government, employers and workers as part of building a stronger and more sustainable labor market.
With the formal restart of the Tripartite Dialogue, the participating organizations say they are committing themselves to an open, constructive and structural process of social dialogue aimed at addressing Curaçao’s socioeconomic and labor challenges.
