WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Police Force (KPC) will once again offer its free pre-clearance service for parents and legal guardians traveling abroad with minors during the October 2026 school vacation. The service will be available starting Monday, October 5.
KPC decided to offer the service again following positive experiences during the July summer vacation. It allows parents and legal representatives to have the documents required for traveling with a minor checked before the actual departure date.
During pre-clearance, Immigration personnel verify whether all required documents are complete and in order. If everything is correct, the documents receive an official indication that the pre-clearance check has been completed.
According to KPC, the service is intended to give travelers greater certainty before departure, prevent documentation problems at the airport and make immigration checks faster and more efficient.
On the day of departure, travelers can present the approved pre-clearance to Immigration personnel at the airport.
KPC emphasizes, however, that pre-clearance does not replace the original documents. Parents and guardians must still carry all required documentation when traveling, and Immigration officers retain the authority to conduct additional checks when necessary.
Depending on the circumstances, travelers may need to present a valid travel document, a completed “Traveling with a Minor” form, a marriage certificate or extended extract from the birth registry, parental travel authorization, a custody or guardianship decision, and other documents specified in the official information brochure.
The police recommend that parents and legal guardians make use of the service well before their departure date. If a document is missing, incomplete or needs to be renewed, travelers will then have enough time to resolve the issue before their flight.
The pre-clearance service will be available at KPC headquarters on Winston Churchillweg in Rio Canario from Monday through Thursday between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. On Fridays, the service will be available from 9:00 a.m. until noon.
The service will remain available throughout the October 2026 vacation period.
KPC said the initiative is intended to improve travel preparation and provide a smoother departure process for parents, legal guardians and children.
