WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Police Force (KPC) has launched a temporary island-wide operation aimed at curbing a recent increase in certain types of crime. The initiative, named "Satis Est"—Latin for "It is enough"—focuses on strengthening police presence in vulnerable neighborhoods and other locations where criminal activity has become a concern.
The operation officially began on Monday, August 3, with additional police units conducting patrols both during the day and at night.
As part of the campaign, officers are carrying out targeted enforcement actions, including traffic inspections and checks for illegal firearms, narcotics and other criminal offenses.
According to police, the operation was prompted by crime trends recorded during the first half of the year. While overall crime has declined in several categories, authorities have noted increases in vehicle thefts, thefts of car parts, break-ins involving vehicles, and burglaries targeting homes and businesses.
Police say the increased visibility of officers on the streets is intended not only to deter criminal activity but also to strengthen the public's sense of safety. The force noted that it has already invested in both crime prevention and investigative efforts, but believes additional measures are necessary to restore peace and security in affected communities.
Authorities have not disclosed how many additional officers are participating in the operation, which neighborhoods are being targeted, or how long the campaign will remain in effect.
Police warned that the intensified enforcement may cause temporary inconvenience for motorists and residents, and asked the public for their understanding and cooperation.
The Curaçao Police Force also urged residents to follow crime prevention advice and take steps to better protect their homes, businesses and vehicles against theft and burglary.
