| By Correspondent March 20, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – Police Commissioner Sharetti Bryan will receive an international leadership award on March 25 in the United States, marking a significant milestone for Curaçao’s law enforcement community.

Bryan will be honored during the Women’s History Month Leadership Awards Ceremony in New Jersey, becoming the first female police officer within the Kingdom of the Netherlands to receive this recognition.

She is a member of the management team of the Curaçao Police Force and serves as head of the Judicial and Information Affairs department. The award is being presented in recognition of her contributions and achievements throughout her career in law enforcement.

The ceremony forms part of Women’s History Month, an annual observance in the United States that highlights the role and impact of women in society. The awards specifically recognize women who demonstrate leadership across sectors such as public service and law enforcement, with a focus on their influence, role as mentors, and contributions to their field.

The event will take place at the Police Studies Institute of Saint Elizabeth University in New Jersey. While largely symbolic in nature, the distinction is regarded as an important form of international professional recognition.

The Curaçao Police Force has expressed pride in Bryan’s achievement, noting that the award not only reflects her individual accomplishments but also enhances the international visibility of Curaçao within the law enforcement community.
