Participation in the high-level conference is seen as strategically important for Curaçao, particularly as it seeks to integrate more deeply into the global trading system. As a small and open economy, access to international markets is considered essential for economic growth and resilience.
Officials emphasized that WTO accession is not merely a formal process, but a key component of Curaçao’s broader economic strategy. Membership would help strengthen the island’s trade framework, improve its investment climate, and support economic diversification.
The initiative aligns with Curaçao’s National Export Strategy, which aims to reduce dependence on traditional sectors and expand opportunities in international markets.
By engaging in the WTO process and participating in global forums such as the ministerial conference, Curaçao is positioning itself to play a more active role in the evolving landscape of international trade.
