Curaçao Parliament to Open New Parliamentary Year on September 8

WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Parliament will officially open its new parliamentary year on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, following approval by the Council of Ministers.

The decision was taken during the Council of Ministers meeting on Wednesday, August 26, following a request from the Minister of General Affairs.

According to the government, the Council approved the contents of a draft national decree concerning the formal opening of the parliamentary year.

The draft decree will now be submitted to Governor Mauritsz de Kort for his signature.

The opening of the parliamentary year marks the formal start of a new legislative period for the Curaçao Parliament, during which the government and legislators will continue work on legislation and other national policy matters.

The government published the Council of Ministers' decision on Friday, August 28.
