Curaçao Parliament President Fergino Brownbill Participates in 17th EuroLat Plenary Session in Tenerife

Local, | By Correspondent October 28, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – President of the Curaçao Parliament Fergino Brownbill is participating in the 17th Ordinary Plenary Session of the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly (EuroLat), taking place in Tenerife, Spain, where parliamentary representatives from Europe and Latin America are gathering to discuss issues affecting both regions.

Brownbill's participation was confirmed on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, as delegations from different parliaments convened to exchange views on regional developments and matters of international importance.

EuroLat serves as a parliamentary forum bringing together representatives from the European Union and Latin America and the Caribbean. The assembly promotes dialogue, cooperation, and closer relations between the two regions through discussions on political, economic, social, and international affairs.

The gathering provides parliamentarians with an opportunity to exchange perspectives on shared challenges and strengthen parliamentary cooperation across the Atlantic.

For Curaçao, participation in such international parliamentary meetings offers an opportunity to remain involved in discussions that may have implications for the Caribbean region and its relationship with Europe.

As a constituent country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Curaçao maintains constitutional and institutional ties with Europe while sharing geographical, economic, and cultural connections with Latin America and the wider Caribbean.

These relationships make international parliamentary dialogue relevant to the island's interests, particularly as regional and global developments continue to influence small island economies.

During the Tenerife conference, parliamentary delegations are discussing various subjects considered relevant to both regions and current international developments.

The Curaçao Parliament has not yet provided details about the specific discussions attended by Brownbill or any positions he may have presented during the meetings.

According to the parliamentary announcement, a summary of the subjects discussed during the conference will be released following its conclusion.

Brownbill's attendance forms part of Curaçao Parliament's participation in international parliamentary exchanges aimed at maintaining dialogue and cooperation with legislative institutions beyond the island.
