Curaçao Parliament invited to Caribbean workshop on healthcare and aging

| By Correspondent March 12, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Parliament has been invited to participate in a Caribbean parliamentary workshop focusing on healthcare policy and population aging.

The meeting will take place on April 16 and 17 in St. George’s, Grenada, and is organized by the regional parliamentary organization ParlAmericas.

The workshop will address growing healthcare challenges across the Caribbean, including the aging population, increasing pressure on healthcare systems and the role of family caregivers.

Parliamentarians from several Caribbean countries are expected to attend the event, where they will exchange experiences and discuss how legislation and public policy can help strengthen healthcare systems in the region.

For Curaçao, the invitation comes at a time when discussions about healthcare and elderly care are becoming increasingly important locally. Recent analyses and reports indicate that demand for elderly care is expected to rise in the coming years, while the capacity of nursing homes and other care facilities is already under pressure.

According to the organizers, the goal of the workshop is to better equip regional parliaments to develop policies that respond to these demographic and healthcare trends. Discussions will include legislation related to healthcare systems, support for caregivers and the financing of healthcare services.

ParlAmericas serves as a collaboration platform for parliaments from North, Central and South America and the Caribbean. Through meetings and workshops, the organization aims to strengthen cooperation and promote the exchange of knowledge among legislators across the region.

It is not yet known which members of the Curaçao Parliament will represent the island at the workshop in Grenada.
