WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Parliament will have a busy parliamentary week from October 5 through October 10, with several previously suspended committee meetings set to resume, a public meeting scheduled on the installation of the Health Council, and a solemn session to commemorate Curaçao’s Day of Autonomy.
The parliamentary schedule begins Monday, October 5, with the resumption of a Central Committee meeting concerning historic buildings in Willemstad and the risks they may pose to public safety.
The meeting, scheduled for 10:00 a.m., will continue deliberations with the Minister of Traffic, Transport and Urban Planning, representatives of Stichting Monumentenzorg, Stichting Monumentenfonds and Stadsherstel Willemstad N.V., as well as the Directorate for Risk Control and Disaster Management.
The discussion focuses on historic buildings in Curaçao’s city center that are in poor condition and could pose serious risks to public safety. The meeting was originally held on April 24, 2026, but will now continue as Parliament seeks further discussion on the issue. Prensa siman 5-9 oktober 2026
Two Central Committee meetings are scheduled to resume on Wednesday, October 7.
At 9:00 a.m., Parliament will continue its deliberations with the Auditor General of Curaçao on the institution's 2023 annual report. That meeting follows earlier sessions held on March 23 and April 28, 2026, as well as May 5 and September 9, 2026. Prensa siman 5-9 oktober 2026

Attention will shift to public health on Thursday, October 8, when Parliament holds a public meeting beginning at 9:00 a.m.
One of the main agenda items is a discussion with the Minister of Health, Environment and Nature concerning the establishment of Curaçao's Health Council. Parliament is also scheduled to decide on associate membership in ParlAmericas.

The week will conclude with a special parliamentary session on Saturday, October 10, marking the Day of Autonomy.

October 10 marks a significant constitutional date for Curaçao. The parliamentary commemoration comes 16 years after the constitutional changes of October 10, 2010, when Curaçao became an autonomous country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
All of the meetings announced by Parliament are scheduled to take place at the Parliament building at Wilhelminaplein 4 in Willemstad.
