WILLEMSTAD – Members of the Curaçao Parliament are set for a busy day on Wednesday as three separate question hours are scheduled, with ministers expected to answer a wide range of questions on healthcare, public safety, Venezuela, and public housing.
The day begins at 9:00 a.m. with questions directed to the Minister of Health, Environment and Nature. PAR Member of Parliament Shaheen Elhage will seek clarification on the situation at Curaçao Medical Center (CMC), amid concerns that the island's main hospital is operating at or near its capacity limits.
Immediately afterward, Justice Minister Shalten Hato will face questions from MFK MP Juniel Carolina regarding the government's efforts to combat livestock theft, an issue that has increasingly affected farmers and agricultural producers across the island.
At 10:00 a.m., Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas will appear before Parliament to respond to questions from MAN-PIN MP Suzy Camelia-Romer. She is expected to seek clarification about recent statements reportedly made by the prime minister in the media, as well as an update on the humanitarian situation following the second major earthquake that recently struck neighboring Venezuela.
The final question hour of the day is scheduled for 3:00 p.m., when the Minister of Traffic, Transport and Urban Planning (VVRP) will answer questions from PAR parliamentary leader Quincy Girigorie.
Girigorie is expected to press the minister on the consequences of deferred maintenance in homes managed by the Curaçao Housing Foundation (FKP), particularly regarding the potential impact on the safety and health of tenants.
The series of question hours reflects Parliament's continued use of the oversight instrument to hold ministers accountable on issues ranging from healthcare and infrastructure to public safety and regional developments.
