WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Parliament has selected “Parlamento Kòrsou FM” as the name of its planned radio station, moving the legislature another step closer to launching its own broadcasting service.

The decision was taken during a public parliamentary meeting on Thursday, October 8. After a voting process, MPs approved Parlamento Kòrsou FM as the official name for the station.

According to Parliament, work on the project will continue during the coming period with the objective of officially launching the parliamentary radio station.

The meeting also resulted in several organizational decisions that had previously been considered by the Central Committee.

Parliament approved associate membership in ParlAmericas, as well as the establishment of a temporary committee to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Curaçao Parliament.

MPs also approved the creation of a Temporary Recognition Award Committee and a permanent General Affairs Committee.

The meeting, chaired by Parliament President Fergino Brownbill, also included deliberations with Minister of Health, Environment and Nature Tyron Boekhoudt over the establishment of the Health Council.

Boekhoudt requested two weeks to prepare answers to questions raised by MPs during the first round of that debate.

Following consideration of the agenda items and approval of the name Parlamento Kòrsou FM, Brownbill suspended the public meeting until further notice.
