WILLEMSTAD – Het Curaçaosch Museum is inviting the public to participate in free cultural activities this month, including two workshops led by artist David Paulus inside his solo exhibition “Rumbo i Rais.”
The workshops, titled “Hilu, Angua, Tela i Baluarte,” will take place on Wednesday, September 16, from 10:00 a.m. to noon, and Saturday, September 19, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Participants will work with needle, thread and textiles to create a portrait of someone they admire or who has inspired them. The workshops will take place within the “Rumbo i Rais” exhibition, allowing participants to create their own work while surrounded by Paulus’ art.
All necessary materials will be provided. However, participants are also encouraged to bring a favorite piece of fabric, textile or an item of clothing they no longer wear but do not want to discard.
With guidance from Paulus, these materials can be transformed and incorporated into a personal artwork.
Participation is free, but space is limited and advance registration is required. Those interested can register by contacting the museum at info@hetcuracaosch.museum.
The workshops form part of a series of free activities organized by Het Curaçaosch Museum this month focusing on art, storytelling and Curaçao’s cultural heritage. Other programming includes traditional Kompa Nanzi stories presented beneath one of the large tamarind trees in the museum garden.
