Curaçao Medical Center Expands Digital System with New Outpatient Module

| By Correspondent March 10, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Medical Center has taken another step in its digital transformation with the introduction of the outpatient module of its hospital information system, HiX.

With this expansion, processes related to outpatient treatments will be further digitized. According to the hospital, the new module allows patient records, consultations and medication prescriptions to be managed within a single integrated digital system.

The implementation is expected to improve efficiency in daily operations and strengthen collaboration among healthcare professionals within the hospital.

Electronic patient record

HiX functions as an electronic patient record and hospital information system developed by the Dutch software company ChipSoft. The system is widely used in hospitals to manage medical files, appointments, medication prescriptions and administrative processes digitally.

With the addition of the outpatient module, healthcare activities outside hospital admissions—such as consultations, follow-up visits and routine checkups—can now also be fully recorded in the system.

According to the hospital, this will allow doctors, nurses and the hospital pharmacy to access relevant patient information more quickly, supporting better coordination of care and more efficient treatment processes.
