Having recently celebrated its 81st anniversary, the Curaçao Lions Club continues to support vulnerable groups and address important social needs. Its activities are aligned with the global priorities of Lions Clubs International, including hunger relief, vision care, diabetes awareness, childhood cancer, environmental protection, youth development, humanitarian assistance, and disaster relief.

Among the organization's best-known community initiatives are Bon Bisiña, Senior Citizens Day, Bunita Bista, and the Inclusive Playground project. The club is also preparing to introduce hearing screenings as part of its expanding community services.

According to the organization, the need for assistance remains significant, making public support and fundraising activities essential to maintaining these programs.

Through its Bon Bisiña initiative, the Lions Club provides food packages to individuals and families in need. Although the organization continues to receive donations, rising food prices have increased the cost of preparing these packages.

The club expressed its gratitude to everyone who contributes to the initiative, emphasizing that continued financial assistance is necessary to maintain the program.

Another important project is Bunita Bista, through which Lions Club volunteers visit schools to conduct vision screenings among children. The organization covers all operational expenses and also pays for prescription glasses when families cannot afford them.

A similar approach will be followed for the upcoming hearing screening initiative, with the Lions Club covering the operational costs.

To help finance these and other community projects, the organization is once again partnering with Archel Callister and his production team to organize a festive evening of music and entertainment.

The Christmas Extravaganza will feature Sergio Vargas, one of the Dominican Republic's best-known merengue performers, who will share the stage with Curaçao's Gentz and Highway bands.

The event will take place on Wednesday, December 23, at the World Trade Center, from 8:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m.

General admission tickets cost XCG 95, while tables for four people are available for XCG 1,400.

General admission tickets can be purchased through Ticketpoint, 24 Uur Uit De Muur, and Curaçao Lions Club members. Table reservations can be arranged by contacting Posh at 520-9700 or through club members.

The Curaçao Lions Club is encouraging the community to attend the event, enjoy an evening of music and dancing, and contribute to initiatives that directly benefit residents in need.

The organization emphasized that community support remains vital to sustaining its charitable work as it continues its mission of service after more than eight decades on the island.
