Curaçao Launches Educational Leadership Program to Strengthen School Management

Local, | By Correspondent June 1, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – The Council of Ministers has approved a new Educational Leadership Program aimed at strengthening leadership and management within Curaçao's education sector.

The initiative, known as the Leergang Onderwijskundig Leiderschap, will be implemented between May 2026 and February 2027 as part of the ongoing reforms under the Landspakket Curaçao.

According to the government, the program will be carried out in cooperation with the Temporary Work Organization (TWO) and the National Reform Commission (NHC), organizations that play a key role in implementing reforms agreed upon between Curaçao and the Netherlands.

The project is designed to improve educational leadership at schools by providing training and professional development opportunities for school administrators and education professionals.

The Council of Ministers approved the project's action plan this week and authorized its submission to the Dutch State Secretary for Kingdom Relations and Government Efficiency for the next stage of implementation.

The initiative forms part of broader efforts to improve educational quality and strengthen institutional capacity within Curaçao's school system.

Education has remained one of the central pillars of the reform agenda, with authorities emphasizing the importance of strong leadership in achieving better outcomes for students and teachers.

The program is expected to run through February 2027.
