WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao has marked the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month with the launch of Fundashon Sinta Ros’ annual fundraising campaign, aimed at supporting women and men affected by breast cancer.

October is recognized worldwide as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a period dedicated to raising awareness about the disease and encouraging greater attention to breast health, early detection and support for people facing cancer.

Fundashon Sinta Ros has been active in Curaçao for 19 years and provides information and support to people affected by breast cancer, with much of its work focused on assisting women confronting the disease.

The organization officially launched this year’s fundraising month on October 1.

Acting Governor Ruthsella Jansen made the first donation to the campaign, symbolically opening the fundraising drive and showing her support for the foundation's work.

Jansen also encouraged the Curaçao community to contribute generously during October.

The donations will support the work of Fundashon Sinta Ros as it continues assisting people affected by breast cancer and raising awareness throughout the community.

The foundation emphasizes that breast cancer does not exclusively affect women. Men can also develop the disease, making awareness and access to reliable information important for the entire population.

Throughout October, Fundashon Sinta Ros hopes the campaign will not only raise funds but also strengthen community awareness and solidarity with people confronting breast cancer.
