Local, Entertainment, | By Correspondent May 20, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao-born pianist, composer, and arranger Randal Corsen will perform on July 10 during the anniversary edition of the renowned North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam.

According to organizers, Corsen will take center stage as a soloist alongside the Paradox Jazz Orchestra, performing an exclusive program featuring only his own original compositions and arrangements.

The concert will blend the power and energy of a traditional big band with Caribbean and Latin American musical influences, including salsa, tumba, danzón, and merengue.

Corsen is no stranger to the prestigious jazz festival. The Curaçao musician has appeared at North Sea Jazz more than ten times throughout his career.

His first performance at the festival dates back to 1997, when he performed with the band of Curaçao guitarist Cedric Dandaré.

Over the years, Corsen has built an international reputation as one of the Caribbean’s most respected jazz musicians, known for combining jazz with Afro-Caribbean rhythms and Curaçao’s musical traditions.

The Paradox Jazz Orchestra was founded in 2020 by conductor and saxophonist Jasper Staps together with trumpeter Teus Nobel. The ensemble focuses on innovative interpretations of big band jazz and collaborations with prominent composers and soloists.

The performance at North Sea Jazz is expected to further highlight Curaçao’s growing presence on the international cultural and jazz scene.
