WILLEMSTAD – The 13th edition of the Curaçao International Film Festival (CIFF) will take place from April 13 to 18, 2027. Following the success of the most recent edition, the festival will once again feature a six-day program focused on international quality films, regional stories, and encounters between filmmakers, audiences and the film industry.
CIFF announced that it will continue its commitment to strengthening the development and visibility of the Caribbean film sector in 2027. Local and regional productions, as well as film education initiatives, will again play an important role in the festival program, creating opportunities for emerging filmmakers, special collaborations and projects that support talent from the region.
The festival is also exploring the introduction of dedicated industry meetings, providing film professionals with additional opportunities through industry talks, masterclasses, workshops and networking sessions.
For the second consecutive year, CIFF will present the Watapana Award, a recognition created specifically to honor filmmakers from the Dutch Caribbean region and Suriname.
The 2026 edition successfully brought together filmmakers, producers and film enthusiasts from the region and beyond, further strengthening CIFF’s growing international reputation.
“Each edition, we want not only to bring exceptional films to Curaçao, but also create a platform for filmmakers from our own region and further strengthen the connection with the community,” said festival director Michael Elias.
“Building on the success of 2026, we look forward to once again bringing together filmmakers, industry professionals and film lovers from around the world in 2027, while continuing to grow the festival. Special attention will be given to strengthening ties with regional film festivals.”
Preparations for the 13th edition have already started. More details about the program, the first film selections and special guests will be announced in the coming months.
