WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao Innovation Hub has secured second place worldwide at the SparkVision AI Film Festival 2026, an international competition for short films created entirely using artificial intelligence.
The achievement was announced by Curaçao’s Ministry of Economic Development (MEO), which described the international recognition as an example of what can be accomplished when emerging technology and innovation are combined with Curaçao’s culture, language, identity and local talent.
According to the ministry, the result goes beyond the award itself and demonstrates Curaçao’s potential to participate and compete internationally in rapidly developing technological and creative industries.
The SparkVision AI Film Festival focuses on productions created 100 percent with artificial intelligence, placing Curaçao Innovation Hub among the top performers in an emerging form of filmmaking that combines technology with creative storytelling.
MEO said it is proud to be part of the vision pursued by Curaçao Innovation Hub, together with partners including CINEX and CITI. The organizations are working to stimulate innovation and strengthen Curaçao’s position as a country capable of developing ideas and competing at an international level.
The ministry congratulated everyone who contributed to the achievement and said the international recognition illustrates the potential of Curaçao’s local talent when given opportunities to work with new technologies.
The second-place finish also provides international exposure for Curaçao as the island seeks to expand its innovation ecosystem and encourage greater use of technology across different sectors of the economy.
