WILLEMSTAD – Minister of Health, Environment and Nature Tyron Boekhoudt has requested two weeks to prepare answers to questions from members of the Curaçao Parliament concerning the establishment of the Health Council.

The issue was discussed during a public meeting of Parliament on Thursday, October 8, as the second item on the agenda.

Parliament President Fergino Brownbill opened the first round of deliberations, giving MPs an opportunity to present their positions and question the government about the establishment of the council.

Following the first round, Boekhoudt told Parliament that he needed two weeks to prepare and formulate responses to the questions raised by MPs.

The Health Council is expected to serve as an advisory body on matters related to public health. Thursday's parliamentary discussion focused specifically on its establishment, although the information released by Parliament did not provide further details about its proposed composition, responsibilities or timetable.

Because the minister requested additional time to respond, the parliamentary debate was not concluded on Thursday.

At the end of the meeting, Brownbill suspended the session until further notice, meaning deliberations on the Health Council are expected to continue after the minister has prepared his answers.
