During the discussions, the union representatives briefed the Governor on their respective roles within the public sector and highlighted several concerns affecting government employees.

Particular attention was given to unresolved labor issues and Curaçao’s international commitments under the standards established by the International Labour Organization (ILO).

These international standards address fundamental labor rights, including freedom of association, collective bargaining, and the protection of workers’ interests.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the unions to explain their positions, share experiences, and offer background information on matters affecting employment relations within the public sector.

Although the Governor’s Office did not disclose the specific outstanding issues raised by the unions, the discussions emphasized the importance of maintaining open communication between institutions and organizations representing government workers.

The meeting also highlighted the significance of constructive dialogue in addressing labor relations and ensuring that Curaçao continues to respect its international labor commitments.

No specific agreements or follow-up measures were announced following the discussions.

The Governor’s Office described the meeting as an opportunity to exchange perspectives and strengthen mutual understanding of issues affecting civil servants and labor relations in Curaçao.
