Curaçao Government to Hold First Integrity Symposium Focused on Transparency and Good Governance

Local, | By Press release May 29, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao government will host its first-ever symposium dedicated to integrity within the public sector on June 9, bringing together policymakers, professionals, and experts to discuss transparency, accountability, and ethical governance.

The event is being organized by the Ministry of Governance, Planning and Service Delivery (BPD) and is aimed at strengthening integrity policies within government institutions while promoting a broader culture of responsible public administration.

A key highlight of the symposium will be the presentation of a baseline assessment of the Curaçao government's integrity framework. The study, conducted by SOAB, is expected to provide an overview of the current state of integrity policies and practices across the public sector and identify areas where improvements may be needed.

The symposium will also feature participation from the anti-corruption organization Transparency International, which will contribute to discussions on international best practices in transparency and integrity. In addition, attendees will take part in an interactive panel discussion focusing on challenges and opportunities in strengthening ethical governance.

According to the organizers, the event seeks to encourage what they describe as “a culture of integrity within public administration and society.” The initiative comes at a time when governments worldwide are facing increasing public demands for transparency, accountability, and effective oversight of public resources.

The symposium will be held under the slogan “Integrity in Motion – Building Transparent and Responsible Governance Together.” It will take place at the Renaissance Wind Creek Curaçao Resort and will conclude with a networking lunch.

Members of the Curaçao Parliament have also been officially invited to participate in the discussions, underscoring the government's intention to involve both the executive and legislative branches in efforts to strengthen integrity standards within the public sector.

Officials hope the symposium will serve as a starting point for broader conversations and future initiatives aimed at improving public trust and reinforcing good governance throughout Curaçao.
