Curaçao Government Moves Company Registration to Permit Desk and Eliminates Registration Fees

Local, | By Correspondent November 2, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – The Ministry of Social Development, Labour and Welfare (SOAW) has announced that company registration services will be transferred from the Labour Sector to the Permit Desk (Vergunningenloket), effective Monday, November 2, 2026.

The administrative change means that businesses seeking to register through SOAW will no longer need to complete the procedure at the Labour Sector. Instead, registrations will be handled by the Permit Desk.

In addition to relocating the service, the ministry has confirmed that company registration will become completely free of charge as of the same date.

This means that applicants will no longer be required to pay registration fees for the service.

The decision introduces two changes to the registration process: a new location for handling applications and the elimination of registration costs.

According to SOAW, both measures will take effect simultaneously on November 2.

The ministry has not provided additional details regarding changes to registration requirements, processing times or whether appointments will be necessary at the Permit Desk.

Businesses planning to register after the effective date should therefore direct their applications to the Vergunningenloket rather than the Labour Sector.

SOAW thanked the public for its understanding and cooperation during the transition to the new administrative arrangement.
