WASHINGTON, D.C. – Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas and Minister of Finance Charles Cooper held an informal meeting with Marnix van Rij, Alternate Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The meeting focused on decision-making processes within the IMF and ways to strengthen coordination within the Kingdom of the Netherlands at the international level.

Key topics discussed included how decisions are made within the IMF’s Board of Directors and how smaller countries can participate more effectively in these processes. The participants also exchanged views on improving coordination among Kingdom partners to ensure more coherent representation within the IMF.
In addition, discussions touched on how Curaçao can better position its priorities both within the Kingdom and on the international stage through the IMF framework.
During the meeting, Van Rij presented a copy of his book “Reflections of a Political Optimist” to the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance.
