WILLEMSTAD – Government employees in Curaçao will receive a half-day off on Friday, June 5, 2026, to participate in the “Blue Nation Government Football Tournament.”
The Council of Ministers approved a circular from the Ministry of Governance, Planning and Public Service allowing public sector employees to leave work from 12:00 p.m., provided operational services permit it.
According to the government, the football tournament is being organized as a government-wide team-building activity connected to the broader Blue Nation campaign surrounding Curaçao’s historic qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Blue Nation initiative has become a major national campaign aimed at promoting unity, national pride and support for Curaçao’s national football team ahead of its first-ever World Cup appearance.
