Curaçao Government Dissolves Campo Alegre Task Force as Responsibility Shifts to Prime Minister Pisas

WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao government has officially dissolved the special task force responsible for matters related to Campo Alegre, according to a national decree dated March 26, 2026. Responsibility for the future of the property has now been transferred to the office of Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas.

The task force had spent the past several years handling the legal settlement surrounding the confiscation measure imposed on Wilshire Advisors LLC, the former owner of Kunuku Hatun, better known as Campo Alegre.

According to the national decree, the working group known as “Implementation of Confiscation Measure Wilshire Advisors LLC and Future of Campo” has completed its activities.

The decree states that the confiscation process has now been finalized and that the Stichting Overheidsaccountantsbureau conducted a feasibility study regarding the future use of the site.

With that phase now completed, responsibility for the next stage has been transferred to the Ministry of General Affairs, which falls directly under Prime Minister Pisas.

As a result, the Ministry of Justice will no longer have a role in the ongoing process concerning the future development or management of the Campo Alegre property.

Campo Alegre, once known as Curaçao’s legalized prostitution zone, has remained closed for several years while legal and administrative procedures surrounding ownership and future use continued. The government has not yet publicly announced what future plans are being considered for the site.
