WILLEMSTAD – The Ministry of Economic Development (MEO), in collaboration with the Curaçao Manufacturers Association (CMA), brought together local manufacturers and key stakeholders on October 15, 2026, to celebrate National Local Industry Day and discuss strategies to strengthen Curaçao's manufacturing sector.

The event, held at Innovation Hub Curaçao, provided an opportunity to highlight the progress made by local manufacturers while examining the challenges and opportunities facing the industry.

Discussions focused on several priorities, including innovation, workforce development, reducing the cost of doing business, and expanding opportunities for locally manufactured products in international markets.

According to MEO, every product manufactured in Curaçao represents the talent, dedication, and efforts of individuals who contribute to the island's economic development.

The ministry emphasized that strengthening local manufacturing is essential to creating more opportunities for businesses, generating employment, and building a more resilient and diversified economy.

One of the central themes of the event was the importance of innovation in helping local manufacturers remain competitive. Participants discussed the need to continue developing new products, improving production processes, and adopting modern technologies that can enhance efficiency and productivity.

Workforce development was another important topic. Ensuring that employees possess the necessary technical knowledge and practical skills is considered essential for supporting the industry's growth and helping companies respond to changing market demands.

The cost of doing business also received attention, as manufacturers continue to face challenges related to production expenses and operating conditions. Reducing these costs could help local businesses improve their competitiveness and expand their activities.

Another priority discussed during the gathering was increasing access to international markets. Expanding export opportunities could allow Curaçao manufacturers to reach customers beyond the island's relatively small domestic market and create additional sources of revenue.

MEO stressed that achieving these objectives requires close cooperation between the government, manufacturers, and other stakeholders.

The ministry believes that a strong local manufacturing sector can contribute to economic growth by supporting entrepreneurship, creating jobs, and increasing the availability of products made in Curaçao.

National Local Industry Day also served as an opportunity to recognize the contributions of local entrepreneurs, manufacturers, and employees who work daily to develop and sustain the sector.

MEO expressed appreciation for their dedication and reaffirmed its commitment to working with the industry to identify opportunities for further growth.

The ministry concluded that continued investment in local production, innovation, and cooperation will be essential to creating a stronger economy and expanding opportunities for the people of Curaçao.
