WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Gaming Authority (CGA) has launched an investigation after detecting unauthorized access to its online gaming portal. The regulator says the access has been contained and the source identified, but it is still investigating what information may have been accessed and the possible consequences of the incident.
The CGA disclosed the security incident in a statement dated September 17, 2026.
According to the gaming regulator, it and its service provider activated incident-response procedures immediately after discovering the unauthorized access. The service provider subsequently began a forensic investigation to determine what happened.
Although the unauthorized access has been stopped, the CGA said the investigation remains ongoing and the full scope of the incident has not yet been established.
The Authority is specifically examining whether information was accessed, what information may have been involved and what consequences could result from the breach.
At this stage, investigators have found no indication that the CGA's core technical infrastructure was compromised.
However, the regulator cautioned that because of the nature of the information it holds, it would be premature to draw conclusions about the overall impact of the incident.
The CGA said additional monitoring and security measures have been implemented as a precaution while the investigation continues.
The Authority is also working to establish all relevant facts before deciding whether further action is necessary.
If the investigation determines that information concerning individuals, applicants, licensees or other stakeholders was affected, those parties will be notified directly in accordance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, according to the CGA.
The regulator acknowledged that the incident could cause concern among parties dealing with Curaçao's regulated online gaming sector and said it remains committed to transparency throughout the process.
Further updates will be issued when appropriate. However, the CGA said that because the investigation is continuing and relevant authorities are involved, it cannot disclose additional details at this time.
The security incident comes as the Curaçao Gaming Authority plays an increasingly important role in supervising the island's online gambling industry under Curaçao's new regulatory framework.
