WILLEMSTAD – Gilbert Martina, the current president of the Curaçao Football Federation (FFK), has confirmed that he will step down from his position due to health reasons.
The announcement was made through a social media post, in which Martina stated that his decision to resign was prompted by his medical condition.
No further details were provided regarding the nature of his health issues or the date on which his resignation will officially take effect.
Martina has served as president of the FFK during a historic period for Curaçao football, including the national team's qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the country's first-ever appearance on football's biggest stage.
The federation has not yet announced who will succeed Martina or what steps will be taken to fill the vacancy following his departure.
More information is expected once the FFK issues an official statement regarding the transition of leadership.
