WILLEMSTAD – Films featured at this year’s Curaçao International Film Festival (CIFF) will reach a wider international audience next month, when a selection of productions travels to the Netherlands for a special Caribbean showcase at Film by the Sea in Vlissingen.
The Dutch film festival, which takes place from September 11 through 20, has reserved part of its program specifically for films from the Caribbean region.
A total of nine short films previously screened at CIFF have been selected for presentation in Vlissingen. Among them are “Amor,” “Kaya ta nos arena” and “Fort Buku.”
The screenings provide an important international platform for Curaçao and Caribbean filmmakers, giving them an opportunity to introduce their work to audiences outside the region and gain greater exposure within the international film community.
The collaboration also extends the reach of the Curaçao International Film Festival beyond the island, allowing productions showcased locally to continue their journey at an established European film festival.
For the participating filmmakers, the screenings in the Netherlands represent an opportunity not only to reach new audiences but also to highlight the growing filmmaking talent and stories emerging from Curaçao and the wider Caribbean.
