WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao’s Special Envoy to the European Union, Eduard Braam, paid an introductory visit to Governor Mauritsz de Kort on Monday, August 10, to discuss Curaçao’s relationship with the EU and opportunities to secure European funding.

During the meeting, Braam briefed the Governor on his work as Curaçao’s EU Special Envoy and the efforts being made to strengthen the island’s position in Brussels.

The two also exchanged views on the European funding opportunities available to Curaçao and discussed projects for which the island has already successfully secured EU support.

Another topic was the approach Curaçao should take in Brussels to improve its ability to access European funds and take advantage of opportunities available through its relationship with the European Union.

As one of the Overseas Countries and Territories associated with the EU, Curaçao can participate in various European programs and funding mechanisms.

Braam’s role as Special Envoy focuses on representing and promoting Curaçao’s interests within the European context and helping the country identify opportunities that can contribute to its development.

The meeting with Governor De Kort formed part of Braam’s introductory engagements in his capacity as Special Envoy.
