Curaçao Delays National Team Squad Announcement Amid Ongoing Uncertainty Around Coaching Situation

Local, International, | By Correspondent May 12, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao Football Federation (FFK) has postponed the announcement of the Curaçao national football team squad, despite earlier plans to present the selection this week.

The federation confirmed the delay during a press conference held Tuesday morning, where officials provided additional explanation about the selection process and recent developments within the organization.

According to FFK, internal work on the final stages of the sporting process is still ongoing before the squad can officially be presented to the public.

The delay comes amid continuing uncertainty surrounding the coaching situation of the national team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Earlier this week, coach Fred Rutten stepped down from his position following consultations with the federation.

According to FFK, maintaining calm and stability within the national team was central to those discussions.

The federation also confirmed that contact has taken place with former coach Dick Advocaat regarding a possible return, but stressed that no contract has yet been signed.

FFK emphasized that its current priority is to further develop the sporting trajectory of the team while safeguarding stability within the squad during preparations for Curaçao’s historic first participation in a FIFA World Cup.

The federation has not yet indicated when the official squad presentation will take place.
