Curaçao Consumer Prices Rise 0.5 Percent in May

WILLEMSTAD – Consumer prices in Curaçao rose in May 2026 compared to the previous month, according to the latest figures released by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS).

The Consumer Price Index reached 106.2 in May, up from 105.7 in April. This represents a month-on-month increase of 0.5 percent.

Prices increased in five spending categories, while one category became cheaper. The largest increase was recorded in transport and communication, where prices rose by 1.7 percent.

Prices also increased for home furnishings and household goods by 0.5 percent, recreation and development by 0.2 percent, housing by 0.1 percent and food by 0.1 percent.

Healthcare was the only category to record a decrease, with prices falling by 0.2 percent in May.

According to CBS, the figures show that the overall price level on the island continued to move upward during the month, although the increases varied by spending category.
