WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Council of Ministers has approved instructions for the Kingdom Council of Ministers meeting of September 25 concerning international aviation agreements involving Sint Maarten and a customs cooperation treaty with India.
The instructions were approved during the Curaçao Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, September 23, and were issued to Curaçao’s Minister Plenipotentiary ahead of the Kingdom Council meeting.
Three of the matters involve bilateral air service agreements between the Kingdom of the Netherlands, on behalf of Sint Maarten, and Scandinavian countries.
The agreements concern Norway, Denmark and Sweden.
Such agreements provide the international legal framework under which air services between countries can be operated, although the Curaçao government’s announcement does not provide details about routes, airlines, frequencies or other provisions contained in the three treaties.
A fourth matter concerns a treaty on mutual administrative assistance in customs matters between the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the government of India.
The Curaçao government did not disclose the specific instructions given to the Minister Plenipotentiary or Curaçao’s position on the individual agreements.
The instructions determine how Curaçao will be represented on these matters when they are considered at the Kingdom level.
