WILLEMSTAD – The Council of Ministers has approved support for a customs cooperation agreement between the Kingdom of the Netherlands and India aimed at strengthening administrative assistance in customs matters.
The decision authorizes Curaçao's Minister Plenipotentiary to support the treaty during deliberations at the Kingdom Council of Ministers.
According to the government, the agreement focuses on mutual administrative assistance between customs authorities and is intended to improve cooperation in combating customs fraud, smuggling, and other cross-border violations.
The treaty would facilitate information sharing and collaboration between customs agencies while helping authorities enforce customs laws more effectively.
India is one of the world's largest economies and an increasingly important trading partner for many countries. Strengthening customs cooperation is expected to support international trade while improving the ability of authorities to detect and prevent illegal activities.
The agreement still requires further approval before entering into force but represents another step in expanding the Kingdom's international customs cooperation network.
