WILLEMSTAD – The General Audit Chamber of Curaçao says it is increasingly positioning itself on the international stage through active participation in regional and global organizations dedicated to public sector auditing and government accountability.

According to its 2025 annual report, the Audit Chamber has been a full member of the Latin American and Caribbean Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (OLACEFS) since 2014 and joined the Caribbean Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (CAROSAI) in 2016. These memberships provide Curaçao with access to international expertise, training opportunities, and best practices in public auditing.

A major event during the year was the XIII CAROSAI Congress, held in Nassau, Bahamas, from May 18 to 23 under the theme "Innovative Approach to Auditing Excellence." Delegates participated in masterclasses, presentations, and discussions on the future of public sector auditing.

Much of the congress focused on the growing role of technology in government oversight. Sessions examined how artificial intelligence, data analytics, and digital tools can make audits more efficient, accurate, and effective. Delegates also explored how modern technology can automate repetitive tasks, support decision-making through real-time insights, and improve communication and collaboration within audit institutions.

Climate change and its impact on public accountability also featured prominently during the congress, reflecting the increasing importance of environmental governance in audit work.

One innovative concept highlighted during the event was an interactive online platform using gamification techniques to present audit findings in a way that is easier for citizens to understand. According to the report, the approach aims to raise public awareness, strengthen confidence in government institutions, and encourage reforms in public administration and financial management.

The Audit Chamber also notes that cooperation with universities and academic institutions forms part of its international strategy. By working with researchers, the institution hopes to expand knowledge of innovative audit methodologies and contribute to a more effective, results-oriented public sector.

In the report's introduction to the "Contacts" chapter, the Audit Chamber emphasizes that cooperation at the local, Kingdom, and international levels is intended to increase the sharing of knowledge, experience, and expertise while ensuring compliance with internationally recognized auditing standards.
