WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao government has approved a temporary cooperation agreement between the Justitiële Jeugdinrichting Curaçao (JJIC) and a similar institution in Suriname aimed at exchanging knowledge and strengthening the capacity of both organizations.
The decision was approved by the Council of Ministers following an earlier “op stuk” decision regarding the establishment of the collaboration.
The cooperation will focus on sharing experiences, exchanging expertise and improving practices within youth justice services.
Through the partnership, both institutions will have the opportunity to learn from each other’s approaches in areas such as rehabilitation, guidance and support for young people within the justice system.
The initiative comes as Curaçao continues to focus on improving conditions and professional capacity within the youth detention and rehabilitation sector.
