WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao's Minister of Justice, Shalten Hato, held a constructive meeting on Tuesday, July 7, with the Dutch State Secretary for Kingdom Relations and Efficient Government, focusing on strengthening cooperation between Curaçao and the Netherlands in key areas of public administration.
According to Hato, although he and the State Secretary were already acquainted through their previous roles—when Hato served as Minister of Justice and the Dutch official was responsible for asylum and migration affairs—the latest meeting provided an opportunity to further deepen their working relationship in their current positions.
During the discussions, the two officials exchanged views on several topics aimed at improving government services and public administration. These included the digitalization of government processes, strengthening integrity and good governance, and expanding cooperation and knowledge exchange within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Hato emphasized that Curaçao is taking important steps toward modernizing its public services and said collaboration with Kingdom partners is essential to achieving those goals. He noted that sharing expertise and best practices can help improve government efficiency and enhance services for the island's residents.
The minister also expressed confidence about the future of the partnership, saying both sides are committed to following up on the agreements reached during the meeting and continuing their constructive cooperation.
The discussions form part of Curaçao's broader efforts to modernize government operations and reinforce good governance while benefiting from closer collaboration with its Kingdom partners.
