WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao and Aruba are set to strengthen their cooperation in tourism, safety and transportation following the signing of a new partnership agreement between the two neighboring islands.

The agreement was signed by Curaçao's Minister of Economic Development, Roderick Middelhof, and Aruba's Minister of Tourism, Wendrick Cicilia. The initiative aims to deepen collaboration between the two countries in areas considered vital to the continued growth and competitiveness of their tourism industries.

One of the key objectives of the partnership is to improve air and maritime connectivity between Curaçao and Aruba. Both governments see enhanced transportation links as essential for facilitating travel between the islands and creating new opportunities for tourism and economic activity.

The agreement also includes plans for closer cooperation in ensuring the safety and security of visitors. The two islands intend to work together on initiatives designed to strengthen the overall visitor experience and maintain the Dutch Caribbean's reputation as a safe and attractive destination.

A central component of the partnership is a new international marketing strategy that will promote Curaçao and Aruba as a combined travel destination. Under the initiative, the islands will market themselves jointly to international travelers while highlighting their unique characteristics, cultures and identities.

According to the ministers, the approach will allow both destinations to complement one another and offer visitors a broader Caribbean experience. By encouraging travelers to visit both islands during a single trip, the governments hope to increase visitor numbers, extend stays and generate additional economic benefits for both countries.

Middelhof and Cicilia said the collaboration significantly strengthens the international competitive position of Curaçao and Aruba at a time when destinations worldwide are competing for tourists in an increasingly challenging global market.

The agreement reflects a growing recognition that regional cooperation can create new opportunities for tourism development while preserving the distinct identity of each island. Officials believe the joint strategy will make the Dutch Caribbean more attractive to international travelers seeking diverse experiences within a single vacation.

Further details on the implementation of the agreement and specific projects are expected to be announced in the coming months.
