WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao International Airport has officially begun its long-anticipated terminal expansion project, marking a key milestone in efforts to strengthen the island’s aviation infrastructure and support future growth.
The start of the project on April 22, 2026, follows earlier groundwork laid during a strategic workshop held on January 22 in Miami. During that meeting, Ricardo Hernández, CEO of Curaçao Airport Partners (CAP), and Wilhelmus Ignacio, Managing Director of Curaçao Airport Holding (CAH), formalized plans in collaboration with key stakeholders.

According to the airport’s leadership, the expansion represents more than a construction project. It is described as a strategic investment aimed at addressing current capacity constraints while improving the overall passenger experience.
Curaçao International Airport has seen steady growth in passenger traffic in recent years, increasing pressure on existing facilities. The expansion is expected to enhance operational efficiency, accommodate higher volumes of travelers, and position the airport to better compete within the regional aviation market.
Officials say the project reflects a shared vision and coordinated effort between public and private partners to support the long-term development of the island’s tourism and economic sectors.
Further details on the scope, timeline, and expected impact of the expansion are expected to be released as the project progresses.
