Curaçao Airport Expansion to Add VIP Fast Track, Extra Security Lane and Future E-Gates

WILLEMSTAD – Travelers departing from Curaçao International Airport can expect major changes to passenger processing and security operations as part of the airport’s outbound terminal expansion project now underway.

According to Curaçao Airport Partners (CAP), the project is designed to improve passenger flow and operational efficiency following years of strong tourism and passenger growth at the airport.

One of the most significant additions will be a dedicated VIP fast-track lane aimed at speeding up the departure process for eligible travelers.

The project will also add an extra passenger screening lane and expand immigration processing capacity through additional staffed booths.

Airport officials confirmed that infrastructure preparations are also being made for a future expansion of electronic immigration gates, commonly known as e-Gates, by the Ministry of Justice.

Additional boarding pass barcode readers will be installed, including a wider accessibility unit designed to better accommodate wheelchair users and passengers requiring additional assistance.

Transit operations for connecting passengers are also expected to become more efficient through redesigned routing inside the terminal.

CAP stated that the Check-in Hall and Commercial Boulevard will remain operational and accessible throughout construction. Additional signage and terminal guides will be available to assist travelers during the various phases of the project.

The expansion project is expected to continue through December 2026 and forms part of the airport’s broader modernization strategy aimed at strengthening operational resilience and improving the overall passenger experience.

Airport officials say the upgrades are necessary to prepare for continued growth in tourism and airline traffic as Curaçao strengthens its position as a regional aviation hub.
