THE HAGUE – During a recent working visit to the Netherlands, Minister of Governance, Planning and Public Service Tyron Boekhoudt held discussions with the Dutch Rent Commission (Huurcommissie Nederland) on the continued development of Curaçao's Rent Commission.
According to the minister, the meeting focused on strengthening the organization and sharing knowledge and best practices, despite differences between the legal and regulatory frameworks in Curaçao and the Netherlands.
Boekhoudt said both commissions share the same objective: maintaining an independent, professional and efficient organization capable of resolving disputes between landlords and tenants in a fair, careful and timely manner.
For Curaçao, the next phase will focus on the continued professionalization of the Rent Commission. Planned improvements include strengthening the organization's structure, optimizing work processes, investing in the training and development of staff and commission members, and continuing the digitalization of its services.
The minister emphasized that ongoing investments in expertise, quality and organizational development are essential to building a Rent Commission that is prepared for the future and capable of providing accessible, reliable and sustainable services to the public.
The discussions form part of the government's broader efforts to modernize public institutions and improve the delivery of government services on Curaçao.
