WILLEMSTAD – The cruise ship Borealis, operated by Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, has made a port call in Curaçao as part of its 76-day voyage titled “Exploration of South America and the Antarctic.”
The journey began on January 28, 2026, and is scheduled to conclude in Southampton, United Kingdom, on April 14. During its stop in Curaçao, the vessel was sailing through the Caribbean leg of its itinerary.

To mark the ship’s first visit to the island, a traditional plaque exchange ceremony was held on board. The event was attended by government representatives, including Charles Cooper and Roderick Middelhof, along with officials from the Curaçao Ports Authority (CPA), the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB), Maduro Shipping as local agent, and the ship’s captain.
The arrival of Borealis contributes to the local economy through spending by passengers and crew, as well as the involvement of various service providers supporting port and tourism-related activities.
The ship itself accommodates around 1,300 to 1,400 passengers and sails to destinations worldwide, offering long-distance itineraries that include regions such as the Caribbean, Europe, and polar areas.
Authorities noted that cruise visits like this play an important role in supporting businesses across the island while strengthening Curaçao’s connectivity within regional and international travel routes.
