WILLEMSTAD – The Consular Corps Curaçao (CCC), together with the U.S. Consulate General in Curaçao, hosted a special celebration on September 2 to honor Curaçao’s newly crowned Little League world champions.
The event, held at the U.S. Consulate General, recognized the young players for their historic achievement and for once again putting Curaçao on the international sporting stage.
During the ceremony, Mexico’s Honorary Consul and Dean of the Consular Corps Curaçao, Ralph Obersi, addressed the players alongside U.S. Consul General Ramon “Chico” Negron. Both offered words of encouragement to the young athletes and congratulated them on their accomplishment.
The Consular Corps Curaçao charitable foundation, Uniting For Children, represented by Jullie Tidey and Estela Villanueva, joined The Athlete’s Foot Curaçao, represented by Samander, in presenting each player with a gift certificate worth XCG 200.
The gifts were presented as an additional gesture of recognition for the players following their world championship victory.
Curaçao Parliament President Fergino Brownbill also attended the celebration and spent time speaking with the players. The organizers thanked Brownbill, the players’ parents, coaching staff and members of the Consular Corps for participating in the event.
The Consular Corps said the gathering was intended to celebrate not only the team’s championship but also the pride the young athletes have brought to Curaçao through their performance on the world stage.
