WILLEMSTAD – Problems surrounding Curaçao social housing corporation Fundashon Kas Popular (FKP) are causing increasing unrest among residents, according to PAR faction staff member and former parliamentarian Ana Maria Pauletta.
In a message shared on social media, Pauletta said she continues to receive phone calls and WhatsApp messages from residents seeking help or answers regarding the ongoing situation at FKP.
According to Pauletta, the complaints involve vacant homes, unfinished housing projects, overdue maintenance and houses that still have not been delivered to residents.
She stated that the situation is creating growing uncertainty for families waiting for housing or hoping for improvements to their living conditions.
Pauletta described the situation at FKP as “out of control” and said serious discussions are needed about possible solutions to the problems affecting residents.
As a result, she is calling on members of the community to help think about ways to address the situation.
“The idea is to create a working group made up of people with ideas, experience and commitment to work together on realistic solutions for the situation surrounding FKP,” Pauletta stated.
The comments come amid ongoing public concern over affordable housing, maintenance issues and housing availability on Curaçao.
