Coast Guard Intercepts Suspected Drug Boat Near Aruba

ORANJESTAD – The Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard intercepted a suspicious vessel carrying six people during a nighttime operation between Saturday and Sunday near Aruba.

According to authorities, the vessel was initially detected heading toward Aruba and was immediately tracked by Coast Guard units. The boat was identified as a suspect vessel believed to be transporting narcotics.

After a brief pursuit, during which some of the suspected drugs were thrown overboard, Coast Guard officers boarded the vessel and took control.

The boat was then escorted to the Coast Guard dock, where the six suspects and the seized narcotics were handed over to the Korps Politie Aruba.

With assistance from the Aruban police, authorities were also able to recover the packages that had been discarded into the sea during the chase. The confiscated drugs have since been destroyed.

An investigation into the case is ongoing, and authorities have not yet released further details about the origin or destination of the shipment.
