WILLEMSTAD – A staff member of the Coast Guard was threatened while on duty at Piscaderabaai on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Curaçao police.
Around 3:00 p.m., the police dispatch center received a report of a threat, after which a patrol was sent to Piscaderabaai. Upon arrival, a Coast Guard employee reported that he had been threatened shortly before while carrying out his official duties in the area.
The Coast Guard employee immediately detained the suspect himself and subsequently handed him over to the police. The suspect has been identified as F.S.S., a 66-year-old man born in Curaçao.
The suspect was brought before an assistant public prosecutor, who ordered his detention pending further investigation. The police have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the threat.
